We have moved!

You might have noticed that I have been quiet around here, but I’ve been busy working behind the scenes to get a new website up for Elegant Impressions!

The blog is now hosted on the main website as well, so I really hope to see you around there. You can subscribe via email or to the RSS feeds as well, so you make sure you don’t lose any bit of inspiration.

Now I’m off to celebrate 🙂

Hello lovelies!

Hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend of planning and relaxing. Today I’m back with another free printable, this time from one of my favourite daily reads – Wedding Chicks. Antlers have been huge in the wedding industry (more of that to come tomorrow 😉 ), so The Wedding Chicks have created a free antler wedding invitation, which you can just print yourself!

It is available in purple and in peach, and the text is wholly customisable. And while you’re at it, you can even pick up matching totes from their shop.

Hop on over to Wedding Chicks for the full tutorial.

That’s enough about me … here are some pretties I found while blog surfing this week 🙂

Hello lovelies …

I had another post lined up for today, but when I saw this on One Fab Day I just couln’t resist. Those who read my blog regularly know that I have a soft spot (well, that’s an understatement!!) for Elie Saab.

He has just launched his 2013 couture collection (which is different from the one he designs for Pronovias). As usual I couldn’t decide which one is my favourite … one thing’s for certain, I would kill to have one of these gowns!

I’m loving the palette of easter egg colours …

… and some delightful short dresses!

And last but not least, this showstopper of a wedding dress. To be perfectly honest, it is the only gown from this collection that I wouldn’t wear, as it’s too girly for my tastes. But for those who love the princess/Barbie look, can it get more beautiful than this?

Hello lovelies …

I’ve been following NYC Bridal Market closely (virtually, unfortunately), and so for today’s Fab Frock, I had to post my favourite so far.

Douglas Hannant gown blue and white

I guess you’ll either love or hate this gown by Douglas Hannant (spotted on Project Wedding). I just love it … everything about it just leaves me breathless.

Tell me, do you love it or hate it? And oh, for more pretties from this year’s bridal market, be sure to join me on Pinterest, where I’m pinning all the pretty gowns!

Portfolio: 1930s Art Deco (IDo November 2011)

Good morning lovelies!

After managing to show the Exotic Paradise shoot a few weeks ago, I figured it’s about time I blog about the next shoot I had styled for IDo magazine. Again, a huge thanks to super talented photographer Jessica Moritz for letting me share these photographs.

The theme this time was 1930s Art Deco. I had just watched Water for Elephants, a love-story set in a Depression-era 1930s circus, and it really inspired me to set the tone for this shoot (besides finally understanding what all the fuss about Robert Pattinson is about 🙂 )

1930s art deco faux wedding shoot gramophone hydrangeasThe shoot took place at the Phoenicia Hotel, a historic Art Deco hotel, and a perfect setting for the opulence and glamour that we wanted to portray. The dress and veil were provided by Wedding Bells … Marquita did a fabulous job styling the bride for this shoot. The veil was positioned in such a way to give that 1930s feel, and we added a headpiece at the side for more bling. Pearl necklace (used as bracelet) is from Zsa Zsa.

The hairstylist for the shoot was Alison Chetcuti of Scissors Tango, while Gaby Naudi was the makeup artist. Hair was styled in finger-waves, and makeup reflected the 1930s glamour … red lipstick and all the works.

Antique Memories of Fgura kindly gave me the red chair and gramophone to use for the shoot. What would a 1930s-inspired shoot be without a gramophone, right? Gold vase is available for rental from Elegant Impressions.

Joseph of Flower Arts was the floral designer for this shoot. He used hydrangeas for the bouquet and incorporated brooches for that extra shine and opulence.

The inspiration for decor was chosen along the lines of ‘vintage eccentricity meets opulent glamour.’ We set up a sweetheart table in front of this magnificent door.

I used black and gold ribbons as a table runner. Joseph did an amazing centrepiece using hydrangeas, roses and orchids which he put in a black vase. We then surrounded them with little tealights and gold vases.

Gold plates, decked out with black napkins, completed the look. I tied some gold ribbon around the napkins, and used brooches from Zsa Zsa as a napkin ring. I have to admit that is one of my favourite table setups so far!

The Phoenicia hotel is so opulent, and the model Victoria looked like a screen siren … It all seemed as we had been transported back to the 1930s!

This is another favourite photo of mine … I have to admit though that there were so many favourite photos, I had such a hard time choosing which ones I should post. So I hope you join me on Facebook, where I’ll be posting more photos from this shoot.

A huge thank you to all the team … Hope this has left you inspired …
